Falling leaves of autumn despair 
Dried brownish unwanted children 
Left behind by their migrating mothers 
In preparation for winter’s storm. 

Shadowy figures lurking in corners 
Pouncing on naughty children who 
Awake from their beds at night  
Muffling their screams in agony
Taking them away to eternity

The devil lair awaits those who
Seek refuge from the storms
The fallen ones, the helpless ones
Do not despair, a new future awaits.
